Impact
The Delphix vFiles feature allows data from unstructured files to be ingested then subsequently provisioned on multiple environments. As part of the procedure for provisioning vFiles, users supply a Mount Path designating a directory on the Target Environment (host) where an iSCSI logical unit (LUN) will be mounted. If the designated directory is not empty, Delphix will inadvertently delete files in the directory. This can lead to data loss and outages arising from affected missing files.
Contributing Factors
The issue only occurs when provisioning vFiles to a Microsoft Windows Environment (host).
The issue only occurs when a Mount Path supplied during provisioning specifies a non-empty directory.

When provisioning vFiles to a Microsoft Windows Environment, specify a Mount Path of a directory that is empty.
Resolution
The issue is fully resolved in Delphix Engine 5.1.3.1, file a support ticket to upgrade the Delphix Engine.
