What is phonehome and what does it do?

What is phonehome?

Phonehome will periodically have the Delphix Engine send supportability information to the Delphix Support site over HTTPS.  This feature requires a connection to the internet and will use the Web Proxy Server configuration if specified. Phonehome is not required by Delphix but does provide us with some basic information such as number of objects on your engine, storage savings, type of database source, number of processors etc. Delphix uses this data for information gathering purposes only.

How do I set up Phonehome?

You can either enable phonehome during initial install:

During initial installation: select Phone Home Service enabled

or after:

  1. Log into the Sysadmin Application
  2. Go to 'Serviceability'
  3. Select 'Modify'
  4. Fill out the information and hit 'OK'

How do I disable Phonehome?

  1. Log into the Sysadmin Application
  2. Go to 'Serviceability'
  3. Select 'Modify'
  4. Uncheck the 'Phone Home Service enabled' and hit 'OK'
