You can stop a masking job using the GUI or API without having to reboot the masking engine. The 5.3 release version made the functionality more robust with reference to job execution and monitoring.

The API used to stop the masking job is `POST /executions/{executionId}/cancel`.
It has been present since the first release of the API in the 5.2.
