Expanded Size of an AWS EBS Volume is Not Visible to the Delphix Engine (KBA5196)

KBA

KBA# 5196

Issue

A Delphix engine running on AWS has additional storage space added to it by expanding the size of its existing EBS volumes.  However, the additional space is not visible to the Delphix engine which continues to show the original EBS volume size.

Resolution

Affected Delphix Engine versions listed above will be unable to see the expanded size of an EBS volume without a reboot.  In these instances, the engine must be rebooted in order to see the new size and the space can then be added to the storage pool for use.

If a new EBS volume is added to the engine, this will be seen without requiring a reboot.

This behavior does not apply to 6.0 and later; Engines at this version will dynamically detect expanded volumes and no reboot or other intervention should be required.
