Resolution

This error may be encountered as a result of Oracle Bug 28410431  ORA-00487 CTWR process terminated with error during rman backup.  The issue is discussed in MOS at the following link:

https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocContentDisplay?id=28410431.8

A document exists discussing this issue ORA-00487 CTWR Process Terminated With Error During Rman Backup (Doc ID 2705215.1)
https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocContentDisplay?id=2705215.1

However, the article does not specify all affected versions of Oracle, though patches for this issue can be found for 12.2, 18, 19, and others.  This link will perform a search and return results for patches addressing 28410431.

The Oracle documentation discusses the removal and recreation of the BCT file or disabling BCT as a workaround, but ultimately Delphix recommends installation of the Oracle patch to resolve this issue. Disabling BCT is expected to increase job times for incremental backup operations.  Deletion and recreation of the BCT file may not ultimately resolve the issue, and the error may be encountered again.

If the workarounds or patch application do not resolve the issue, please engage Delphix and Oracle Support.
