This document outlines the steps to properly upgrade the Delphix Engine. Upgrades are currently done with the assistance of Delphix Support. Allocate 1-2 hours of downtime for each Engine and file a case at least two days (48 hours) in advance of the planned upgrade. Multiple engines may be upgraded simultaneously if it would assist the customer. However, caution should be exercised when performing simultaneous upgrades and ample resources should be allocated on both ends. *For versions older than 4.2.x, please file a support ticket and plan for a much longer downtime as well as some change in the processes listed below.
Create a support case for each Engine upgrade.
Indicate if Masking is used in the case
Provide at least 48 hours notice for the upgrade(s)
After hours and weekend upgrade support is available for Platinum support customers, however additional notice needs to be provided.
Ensure that all database and Environment usernames and passwords are known/available.
Perform a refresh of all host Environments and review any associated faults (Manage > Environments > Green and Blue arrow circle). This is to ensure that there are no unknown latent host communication issues.
Upload the support logs for each Engine to the respective case.
Download the upgrade software from download.delphix.com (go to DEversion > media > delphix.xxxx.upgrade.tar.gz)
